my eyes are so dark brown they look black. I line them with black eye liner on the bottom and i use liquid eye liner on the top. im honestly started to get bored with them i don't know what to do. nothing i come up with looks good. Anyone want to help a girl out?

I asked earlier this year about eyeliner and now I have a question about eyeshadow. This summer I wore the aqua eyeliner suggested to me in my other question with no eyeshadow but now that it's fall winter I thought I might need to get rid of the blue eye pencil. Up till a few days ago I had a side swept fringe that cast no shadow onto my eyelids and wore a medium brown eyeshadow but I just got my hair cut so I have a full fringe which does cast a shadow over my already dark eyelids. I am half Persian so my eyes are very dark to begin with but now they just look strange with a dark eyeshadow on them. I've always been told to put darker colors on my eyes but since they are so dark now I was wondering if a light skintone color would work to fix the problem. I still want to look very natural, would a lighter eyeshadow look more unnatural than a darker one? I have to go to a party tonight so I need to know soon Thank you bunches
